Nice to meet you,

I'm

I'm

Alex

Who am I?

My name's Alex, and I'm a developer and designer currently based in Reno, NV.

I'm primarily a numbers and computers guy, and love the puzzle-solving nature of computer science. To me, learning is part of the fun and challenge of software development and design, and I stand by that as one of my core principles when tackling any new project.

When I'm not behind a monitor, I love to spend time out on hiking trails or on skis. Growing up in Reno means that the mountains are my home, and they provide a nice place for reflecting on my current design and development work.

Development Languages

I've been coding for quite a long time: since I first was fortunate enough to have access to a LEGO Mindstorms Robotics kit, I was hooked.

What started as thoughts of maze-solving vehicles and automatic card dealers turned into thoughts of world and life-changing software, once I realized the power of the tools available to developers in the modern age of computing.

These days the LEGOs remain on my shelf, but that same engineering passion shows up in all of my past and current projects

I'm constantly trying to expand my list of language proficiencies and learn new ways to make cool things.

My Education

I graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and a 3.77 GPA.

The core CS curriculum at the University of Michigan focused on C++ development to establish the core principles of Object-Oriented Programming. I supplemented my core learning with instruction and exploration in Python, Bash, Java, SQL, and common front-end frameworks such as Vue.js and React.js through my own course selection.

In addition to all of my studies in Computer Science, I took classes in Graphic Design, Public Speaking, Economics, and Spanish to round out a very computation-heavy curriculum.
